The story behind Crowbar

Like many neighborhood taverns throughout Las Vegas, Crowbar Tavern has a story built on hard work, determination, and community.

Crowbar was founded in 2002 by owners Joe and Al. Joe, a native of Brooklyn, New York, and Al, who was born in Cuba, spent decades working on the Las Vegas Strip. After both were laid off in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks, they decided it was time to pursue a dream of their own.

Together, they purchased a neighborhood tavern and transformed it into Crowbar Tavern—a welcoming place where locals and visitors alike could enjoy great food, cold drinks, friendly service, and exciting gaming in a relaxed atmosphere. Their vision was simple: create a place where everyone felt like family.

In 2011, Joe and Al expanded by purchasing a second Crowbar location. The original Crowbar was later sold in 2016, allowing them to focus on continuing the success of the second location.

Over the years, Crowbar has weathered many challenges, including the economic recession of 2008 and, more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. Through every obstacle, the support of our loyal customers and the dedication of our staff helped keep our doors open and our spirit strong.

Sadly, in 2024, Al passed away after a sudden illness. His passing left a tremendous void, but his legacy lives on. Today, Joe proudly continues the dream they built together, honoring their friendship and the business they created through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to serving the Las Vegas community.
